RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Description:
When we open to the reciprocity of forgiveness, we also enter into an awareness practice that presences understanding, wisdom, and compassion. The complexities of conditioned experience often compel us to defend rather than open our hearts. Forgiveness practice can be the medicine we need to lessen the tight grip of past trauma, grief, fear, anger, judgment, and wounds on ourselves and others. The courage to witness what we hold fast to has the potential to lead us on a journey towards liberation and true freedom.
Join us in exploring how cultivating the spirit of forgiveness, as a heart practice, allows for a reclaiming of our true loving nature. We will explore the practices of forgiveness and letting go, with the primary support of mindfulness, kindness, compassion, equanimity, and gratitude.

Selection Details:
Applications are accepted between July 19 – Aug 9, 2023. All applications are assigned a random number. Together with the random number we are balancing many additional variables to create equity, diversity, inclusion, and access. Those factors include: scholarship needs & availability, affinity group “membership”, age, gender balance, and experienced or new practitioners. Applications received after the close date are automatically placed on the wait list (and will not be included in the first round of selections). Notification rounds can move quickly in the first few weeks following the first acceptances, so we recommend staying ready. You may be accepted sooner than you realize!
You will be notified about the selection results within two weeks of the application close date. If you have been offered a space, you will have two days to pay a deposit to accept/hold the space. If you don’t accept the space within this deadline, we will offer it to the next person in line.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Scholarship offerings: All scholarship rates require a minimum fee ($55/night). Scholarships are limited to TWO per calendar year for on-land retreats. And, while we are not able to offer “pay what you can”-type of scholarships for in-person retreats, they are still available for online offerings as space allows.
Room Occupancy Update*: We have double and single occupancy rooms. Many of our rooms are single occupancy (only 16 of 80 rooms are double occupancy). We offer a “guaranteed single room” rate and these will be limited (16). This rate guarantees a single room while helping to support scholarships and all we do here at Spirit Rock. The remaining single rooms are not exclusive to the top end of the sliding scale; however, they are initially prioritized for those with serious medical needs.
*Subject to change depending upon COVID-19 situation.

RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Description:
The Buddha’s liberating teachings on the four divine sanctuaries include meditations on universal friendliness, compassion, altruistic joy, and equanimity. Aimed at purifying our hearts and developing concentration, these divine sanctuaries aid our ability to both find inner peace and to powerfully engage with the world. This retreat will deepen our understanding of selfless love and how it ends suffering. Retreatants are encouraged to combine this Lovingkindness Retreat with the previous Elements Retreat to further develop concentration, purify the heart, and learn to integrate these two forms of Buddhist meditation.
Unique opportunity: If you would like a longer retreat period (18 nights), you could attend BOTH The Elements (August 11-18) and the Summer Lovingkindness (August 18-27) retreats back-to-back. We will reserve 50 spaces for this extended retreat opportunity. These spaces sell out quickly, so register as early as possible.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Scholarship offerings: All scholarship rates require a minimum fee ($60/night). Scholarships are limited to TWO per calendar year for on-land retreats. And, while we are not able to offer “pay what you can”-type of scholarships for in-person retreats, they are still available for online offerings as space allows.

RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Description:
“To reteach a thing its loveliness is the nature of mettā. Through lovingkindness, everyone and everything can flower again from within.” ― Sharon Salzberg
There is a rich repository of deep peace and ease that resides within the heart. Mettā, the practice of lovingkindness, brings to awareness the messages of conditioning that cloak the inner sacredness of our being. Mettā transforms the heart into a sanctuary by which we are strengthened to stay lovingly engaged with the tumultuous tides of life. This retreat will offer silent and guided lovingkindness meditation, Dharma talks, movement meditation, and restful time to nourish the body and heal the heart. Through the practice of mettā, we will journey towards our true place of belonging and again encounter the tender sacredness of our being.
