RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Prerequisite: At least ONE parent/caregiver must have attended a silent meditation retreat of at least 4 nights at a Buddhist meditation center.
Description:
Find joy in a retreat for the whole family! This will be a time for you and your family to rest, reconnect, play, and enjoy. This is a four-night residential retreat for adults and their children ages 7-15 years old.
The days will combine age-appropriate meditation and Dharma teachings, games, arts and crafts, nature time, and more. Kids and teens will have organized time each day to be with same-age peers, fully supervised by our outstanding mindful leaders. Adults will also have their own time to practice, relax, and receive Dharma from the teachers.
The family retreat creates a safe and nurturing environment where all family constellations, races, gender identities, and bodies are welcome and belong. Children and adults from participant families often forge lifelong friendships on this retreat.
IMPORTANT – Details on our current COVID Safety Protocols for In-person Retreats. Subject to change.

And, while we are not able to offer “pay what you can”-type of scholarships for in-person retreats, they are still available for online offerings as space allows.
Selection Details:
Applications were accepted between February 28-April 14, 2023 (end of the day). Applications were accepted on a rolling basis throughout the application period until the program fills, whichever comes first. The “lottery-style” selection process helps us balance many factors to create equity, diversity, inclusion, and access across our community of practitioners. The factors include: age, gender, scholarship needs & availability, affinity group participation, and stage of practice (new to experienced). Applications received after the close date are automatically placed on the wait list. Notification rounds can move quickly in the first few weeks applications are open, so we recommend staying ready. You may be accepted sooner than you realize!
You will be notified about the selection results no later than April 20, 2023. If you have been offered a space, you will have three days to pay a deposit to accept/hold the space. If you don’t accept the space within this deadline, we will offer it to the next family in line.

RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Open To: Young Adults ages 18-32 years
Description:
Come practice silent mindfulness and Insight Meditation for a week in a group of your peers. Give yourself a break from constant overstimulation and external demands as we create a supportive space for cultivating greater inner calm, spaciousness, and presence.
We will honor each person’s experience through radical self-awareness and deeper embodiment, exploring the ancient practices of guided and silent sitting, walking, heart meditations, movement, practice meetings with teachers, and Dharma talks. Over the course of the week, we will extend these practices until the entire day is one of steady, continuous awareness.
On the last day of the retreat we practice coming in and out of silence to learn conscious connection with the community around us. This is a fully silent retreat, and you will be asked to turn off and put away all electronic devices.
This retreat is silent except for teacher-led Q&A, small groups, or other practice meetings.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Scholarship offerings: In returning to the land, we returned to our pre-pandemic scholarship options and policies. All scholarship rates require a minimum fee ($55/night). Scholarships are limited to TWO per calendar year for on-land retreats. And, while we are not able to offer “no one turned away”-type of scholarships for in-person retreats, they are still available for online offerings.
Hemera Fellowships – are you eligible? Learn more…
Room Occupancy Update*: Starting on March 27, 2022, we returned to double and single occupancy rooms. Many of our rooms are single occupancy (only 16 of 80 rooms are double occupancy). We have also returned to offering a “guaranteed single room” rate; these rates are limited (16). This rate guarantees a single room while helping to support scholarships and all we do here at Spirit Rock. The remaining single rooms are not exclusive to the top end of the sliding scale; however, they are initially prioritized for those with serious medical needs.
*Subject to change depending upon COVID-19 situation.

RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
Description:
The Buddhist path includes practices to cultivate four powerful and transformative qualities—kindness, compassion, joy, and balance. These qualities are innate human capacities, and can also be developed into more reliable dwelling places for the heart. Known as the brahmavihāra, or “sublime homes,” these states can serve as powerful supports for wellbeing, wholeness, concentration, and the maturing of Insight practice.
In this silent meditation retreat, we will explore techniques for developing each of the four sublime states, as well as ways to release the obstacles that often get in the way of living with more ease, happiness and peace. Our time together will include silent and guided sitting meditation, walking meditation, Dharma talks, instructions, Q&A and small group meetings with the teachers.
This retreat is appropriate for both beginning and more experienced meditators.
