RETREAT TO BE HELD ON THE LAND!
PREREQUISITE: Completion of one (or more) 6-night or longer silent, residential or online Insight meditation retreat. If you are new to Nine Bodies, you are also encouraged (but not required) to complete a Nine Bodies introductory program before coming on the retreat.
Description:
The Nine Bodies teaching presents a unified map of the various capacities of consciousness, which are often only partially recognized (or completely unrecognized) even among long-term practitioners. This retreat offers a new method of practicing Insight Meditation in which consciousness itself becomes the object of meditation.
The retreat follows a distinct teaching style that will be unfamiliar to first-time Nine Bodies Insight practitioners. The primary teaching method is two daily detailed guided meditations, each of which are 45-60 minutes long. Potential participants are strongly encouraged to listen to guided meditations ahead of time to experience this style of practice. Guided meditations by all three teachers, from last year’s retreat, can be found here: https://www.dharmaground.org/teaching-recordings
This retreat will be held in noble silence except for the guided meditations, talks, and teacher-led practice support meetings. This retreat is not recommended for those experiencing acute grief or other strong mental or emotional challenges.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Scholarship offerings: In returning to the land, we returned to our pre-pandemic scholarship options and policies. All scholarship rates require a minimum fee ($55/night). Scholarships are limited to TWO per calendar year for on-land retreats. And, while we are not able to offer “no one turned away”-type of scholarships for in-person retreats, they are still available for online offerings.
Room Occupancy Update*: We have returned to double and single occupancy rooms. Many of our rooms are single occupancy (only 16 of 80 rooms are double occupancy). We have also returned to offering a “guaranteed single room” rate; these rates are limited (16). This rate guarantees a single room while helping to support scholarships and all we do here at Spirit Rock. The remaining single rooms are not exclusive to the top end of the sliding scale; however, they are initially prioritized for those with serious medical needs.
*Subject to change depending upon COVID-19 situation.
IMPORTANT – Details on our current COVID Safety Protocols for In-person Retreats.

Description:
During this daylong retreat, our sitting and walking practices will be informed by periods of reading poetry to each other. Each poem is carefully selected by Phillip Moffitt with an eye toward selections that point us to Dharma insights.
Poems of this nature comfort us and inspire us to take our meditation understandings into our daily life such that we see the world through Dharma eyes and respond from the Dharma heart. This is a day of fun and lightheartedness, and if you haven’t ever read a poem in front of others, don’t miss this opportunity to free your voice and find a new form of expression.
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.
