This is not a 12-Step group, but we look to ways that members of the community can support each other on the path of recovery. Each gathering begins with a period of guided meditation, and new meditators are welcome. There is time for discussion about meditation practice and a recovery/Dharma theme each month.

In this half-day program, Jan Willis will guide us in exploring the meaning and functioning of “liberation life stories” (rNam thar) in the Tibetan Tantric tradition by focusing on the stories of two well-known tantric siddhas, practitioners who gained enlightenment in one lifetime, Naropa and Milarepa. What are rNam thar, and how do they work? How should we read them? Can we discern common patterns in the lives of those who attained enlightenment in one lifetime? What do these two rNam thar, read in tandem, teach us about the Buddhist Path?

Description:
Our psyche is composed of both “heaven” and “earth.” Heaven represents the psyche’s transcendent expression, the pre-egocentric worldview of timelessness and transcendent identity. Earth represents the psyche’s dualistic, sensual, and conditioned aspects. Though we are conditioned to think of these “earth” aspects of the psyche as being negative, they are simply the counterpoint to the more transcendent and otherworldly aspects of our being.
Heaven and earth go together like your right and left hand, or like your two feet walking. No matter how we identify with or grasp at one of these aspects of our being, they are both part of us. Only when they come together in a single embrace do we experience a wholeness of being that is not held captive by either position. In this day with venerable teacher Adyashanti we will share meditation, teachings, and discussion that illuminates the embrace of heaven and earth.
On-Land space is limited due to COVID protocols in place, please register for the In-person event only if you can join us on the land. If you can only join us remotely online, please register for the Online version and you can participate by Zoom or watch the program later.

Description:
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.

Description:
Does “The Four Noble Truths” just seems like another list to memorize?
What are “truths”, especially when contemplating: How did we learned them? How have they hurt and harmed us? How can we transform the impacts of this to realize our inherent wholeness?
Join us and explore how the reframed “Engaged Four Noble Truths” can reflect our contemporary, multi-dimensional, lived experiences as BIPOCs. Throughout this daylong retreat, there will be meditative, reflective, and interactive exercises, which will support us to see how these seemingly passive “truths” can be more active and meaningful. We’ll expand their traditional framing to see how they also support an engaged practice, enlivening us with agency.
This daylong retreat of healing is based on teachings from Rev. Liên Shutt’s upcoming book, Home is Here: Practicing Antiracism with the Engaged Eightfold Path.
Open to: Self-identified BIPOC community. No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.

Lama Tsultrim Allione brings an 11th-century Tibetan woman’s practice to the West for the first time with this accessible and effective five-step approach for dealing with negative emotions, depression, anxiety, addiction, fears, illness, and any self-defeating patterns that block us. In the process the energy tied up in our demons transforms into an accessible ally.
Now the subject of several promising scientific studies, Feeding Your Demons® was distilled by Lama Tsultrim from the teachings and practice of the Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön. This practice has benefited thousands worldwide, with practitioners from every walk of life on five continents, and can be a meaningful tool for anybody, regardless of religious affiliation or personal philosophy.

Description:
This experiential daylong retreat is an invitation to rediscover your sense of aliveness. We will explore different facets of the direct experience of vitality, or life energy, including within the body, the mental/emotional, and the subtle as experienced in spacious awareness. We will also open to the vitality of the natural world, letting nature be our teacher. Bringing mindfulness to these dimensions can enhance our sense of aliveness, support resilience, and awaken gratitude for the gift of life.
This day of practice will include guided meditations, talks, and time for movement/walking meditation. The primary teaching method will be a progression of detailed guided meditations to support centering our direct experience rather than concepts. Open to all experience and vitality levels.

This is not a 12-Step group, but we look to ways that members of the community can support each other on the path of recovery. Each gathering begins with a period of guided meditation, and new meditators are welcome. There is time for discussion about meditation practice and a recovery/Dharma theme each month.

Sliding Scale: $45-$200. Code PB2D23.
Continuing Education Credits: This program offers 6 CE credits for $60 for psychologists, and California licensed MFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCs, nurses, and chiropractors.*
Description:
One of our deepest desires is to connect with the wonders of life and be happy. Though the world has moved past the COVID lockdown and you may find yourself in more easeful conditions, you may be unable to find renewed joy and happiness. We find ourselves surrounded by unexplained worries and the stresses of daily life.
Embodied mindfulness practices can help harness our racing mind and transmute difficult emotions. When we turn our care and attention toward worry, anxiety, anger, frustration, or fear, and practice holding difficult emotions tenderly, we embody love, compassion, and equanimity. We reclaim our happiness. Using science-backed resilience strategies, we will explore ways to regain our capacity to meet our challenges with courage, face our fears, develop self-compassion, and deepen in self-care.
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.

The practice of law can be exceptionally stressful. Legal training itself, the demands of the workplace, and the kinds of people drawn to the profession come together to create what we might call the legal mind, which can make reducing stress and accessing well-being difficult. Though it can seem like the emphasis is on the suffering rather than the potential for release, happiness is experienced at every stage of practice. In our day together, we will contemplate the happiness of this path that is known as “beautiful in the beginning, beautiful in the middle, and beautiful in the end.”

Description:
During this daylong retreat, our sitting and walking practices will be informed by periods of reading poetry to each other. Each poem is carefully selected by Phillip Moffitt with an eye toward selections that point us to Dharma insights.
Poems of this nature comfort us and inspire us to take our meditation understandings into our daily life such that we see the world through Dharma eyes and respond from the Dharma heart. This is a day of fun and lightheartedness, and if you haven’t ever read a poem in front of others, don’t miss this opportunity to free your voice and find a new form of expression.
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.

Description:
Insight Meditation (vipassanā in Pāli, the language of the original Buddhist teachings) is the simple and direct practice of mindfulness. Through relaxed awareness, we can experience for ourselves the nature of stillness and movement in the ever-changing flow of the mind-body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.
