Retreat Description:
Get your head straight, chill out, learn to focus and appreciate life to its fullest! Explore your heart and mind. Connect with other teens in a positive, meaningful way. Reflect on the mystery and truth of your life.
This retreat will be an opportunity for teenagers to explore mindfulness practice through guided periods of silent sitting and walking meditation, small group discussions, creative activities and unstructured free time. Besides learning meditation practices, there will also be time to go for walks, playing music, telling stories and enjoying each others’ company. Since meditation practice may be new to some teens, each period of sitting and walking meditation will be limited to 30 minutes.
Facilitators will be available to give extra support to teens whenever needed. Meals are vegetarian and are prepared with the tastes and preferences of young people in mind.
Financial assistance is available for all Spirit Rock residential retreats. Our scholarship rate is $40/night and available for all those with financial hardship with special funds allocated to People of Color (POC) and folks with serious medical conditions. Scholarship funding is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Scholarships are budgeted per retreat and because they are in high demand, can run out quickly. We encourage you to register for a retreat as close as possible to the registration opening date (lotteries are an exception).
Lottery details:
In order to create a safe and balanced container for our teens, and due to the limited number of spaces this year, we will use a lottery process for attendance in this year’s teen New Year’s retreat. We will accept applications starting Wednesday, August 28, 2019 through Friday, October 4, 2019.
No preference is given to when you apply within this one-month period. All applications will be reviewed for eligibility. All applicants must apply online. No retreat fees will be collected at this time; it is purely registration for the lottery portion of the process.
After the lottery closes, applicants will be notified by email of their status no later than 5:00pm on Friday, October 25; please refrain from calling before this deadline. If you are selected in the lottery, you will be sent an email with registration and payment instructions. If you end up on a waiting list, you will be notified.

Also, please remember that the cost above is priced as a sliding scale. Please consider paying at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This allows others who need to pay less the opportunity to attend. Fee is for room and board. Teaching and staffing of the retreats is by donation at the end of the retreat.
