Sliding Scale: $40 – 100. Code PB4D18.
5.5 CE credits available for $55 for psychologists and California licensed MFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCs, nurses, and chiropractors.
A Day for Self-Identified People of Color
When we feel stress or lack of safety in our daily lives, we lose our center and our sense of well-being. Traumatic responses arise in our bodies. Over time, our capacity to deal with daily stress and anxiety is inhibited. In this day retreat, we will reclaim our innate capacity to self-regulate by working directly with our body based trauma responses using Somatic Experiencing and mindful meditation tools. Specifically, the mindfulness practices of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity will be used to help you free up your energy so you feel more settled, grounded, and calm in your everyday life.
Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals as well as the general public. Health care professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients. Continuing Education (CE) credit available. See below for attendance requirements and more information.
Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
Based on the content of this program, you will be able to:
- Utilize mindfulness with clients as a resource to begin to work with traumatic responses;
- Utilize Somatic Experiencing skills with clients to release physical and emotional tension;
- Describe the difference between the fight, flight, and freeze responses so clients can cultivate body awareness of their personal stress response, and be able to respond with self-care;
- Identify habitual response patterns in clients that are linked to past traumatic events.
Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited income) are invited to attend this day for $20.
