Dates: 2 Days: Saturday, May 5 – Sunday, May 6; 9:00am – 5:00pm

The Buddha gave the analogy of building a raft and paddling with hands and feet to reach the safety of the faraway shore together. He did not ask us to build an ocean-liner or a cruise-ship, but to make use of what we could find around us.
Over these days, we will deepen our familiarity with the tools and resources that are around and available to us. With clear intention and dedication, even the humblest of vehicles can take us across the troubled waters of our time.
This retreat will be held in Noble Silence, with guidance, practices, and opportunity for Q&A.
Lunch: Bring lunch for yourself and, if you wish, food to share with the monastics and fellow participants. You will have an opportunity to make offerings to the Ayyas as part of this monastic day of practice. Please bring only vegetarian food to share and please bring any serving utensils your dish requires. If your dish includes nuts, dairy or gluten, please label your dishes. We will have pens and paper on the food offering table for this purpose.
Other donations are also gratefully accepted so if you would like to bring provisions for Aloka Vihara Forest Monastery, please click here for a dana list.
