Physical pain can understandably submerge, tighten and trap the mind, heart, and body together – entangling sensations, emotions, and thoughts into a mess of discomfort.
Sometimes being with what is, involves separating the components of experience out: knowing sensations as sensations and recognizing how skillfully or unskillfully the mind and heart are nonetheless courageously trying to cope with them.
During this online day retreat, we’ll (re)discover the connection between mind and body, the capacity to distinguish between unpleasant sensations and associated thoughts and feelings, and wise discernment and choice about what to focus on and when. We’ll learn skills to better cope with and transform our experience with chronic pain, including an exploration of integration and separation; non-identification and kindness; breath and visualization; concentration, and open awareness practices.
Our time together will include periods of guided and walking meditation, discussion, connection in community, gentle movement, and Q&A.
