Description:
Join us in experiencing the teachings of Buddhism from Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield, two of the foremost vipassanā teachers in the Insight tradition. This evening includes a guided meditation, a moderated conversation between Joseph and Jack, and questions and comments from the Spirit Rock community. Both teachers will offer insights and reflections on the teachings of the Buddha, including its role and relevance in addressing and supporting the challenges of modern-day life.
Joseph Goldstein, PhD, is a co-founder and guiding teacher of Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts. He has been teaching vipassanā and mettā retreats worldwide since 1974, and in 1989 he helped establish the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. He is the author of A Heart Full of Peace, One Dharma, Insight Meditation, and The Experience of Insight, and co-author (with Jack Kornfield) of Seeking the Heart of Wisdom.
Jack Kornfield, PhD, trained as a Buddhist monk in the monasteries of Thailand, India, and Burma. He has taught meditation internationally since 1974 and is one of the key teachers in the Western Insight tradition. He is a founding teacher of the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock Meditation Center. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology and is a father, husband, and activist. His books include A Path with Heart; Buddha’s Little Instruction Book; Teachings of the Buddha; Seeking the Heart of Wisdom; Living Dharma; A Still Forest Pool; After the Ecstasy, the Laundry; The Art of Forgiveness, Lovingkindness, and Peace; The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology; Bringing Home the Dharma: Awakening Right Where You Are; and No Time Like the Present: Finding Freedom, Love, and Joy Right Where You Are.
General Information
Online registration for our programs is available until 12 noon of the last business day prior to the day of the event (e.g. online registration for a Monday program ends at 12 noon on the prior Friday). There is an additional $5 fee for registering at the door. If you can’t attend an event you registered for, please see our Cancellation Policy.
