Pre-requisite: Completion of two (or more) 5-night or longer silent, residential Vipassana (Insight) meditation retreats AND a Vipassana meditation practice of five years or more. You must have completed the prerequisite before applying for this retreat. See “Lottery and Pre-requisite Details” section below.

Retreat Description:
Loving Awareness: practiced as mindfulness and metta is the gateway to liberation. During this meditation retreat, as experienced practitioners, we will join together to quiet the mind, open the heart and see our human life with the eyes of wisdom. This is a newer retreat format in which we will continue our traditional alternating periods of sitting, walking, guided meditations; and add in daily periods of dialogue where we are engaged in Q & A sessions with the teachers and the group of practitioners attending the retreat.

Financial assistance is available for all Spirit Rock residential retreats. Our scholarship rate is $40/night and available for all those with financial hardship with special funds allocated to People of Color (POC), folks with serious medical conditions, and young adults (age 18-26). Scholarship funding is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Scholarships are budgeted per retreat and because they are in high demand, can run out quickly. We encourage you to register for a retreat as close as possible to the registration opening date (lotteries are an exception).

Lottery and Pre-requisite Details:
The lottery will open on May 26, 2020. Please be patient as this is a manual process. You DO NOT need to register on the first day as lottery registrations will be available for approximately 30 days. No preference is given to when you apply within this one-month period.

Pre-requisite details: You must have completed this prerequisite before registering for this retreat. Workshop-style / non-silent retreats do not qualify toward the retreat pre-requisite. This pre-requisite is at the request of the teachers.

All applicants must apply online. Please call us if you do not have access to a computer. No retreat fees will be collected at this time, it is purely registration for the lottery portion of the process. If you need scholarship funds to attend, please be sure to request those funds by selecting one of the scholarship options during the registration process. Selecting this option will not affect your chances of getting in, so we encourage you to apply if you truly have a financial need. Scholarships may not be available later.

After the lottery closes, applicants will be notified by email of their status no later than two weeks after the lottery closes; please refrain from calling before this deadline. If you are selected in the lottery, you will be sent an email with a special link to register and pay your retreat fees online. If you end up on a waiting list, you will be notified of your position on the list. ~Thank you for your practice of patience!
