This is a very special retreat, the cooks prepare a beautiful meal, and it is an opportunity to be in community with fellow practitioners during this time of “thanks-giving.” It is important to know that there is no partial attendance available for this retreat, even on Thanksgiving Day.
The Thanksgiving retreat at Spirit Rock is a special opportunity to spend the holiday in the company of a like-minded community, surrounded by the peace and silence of the land. We will spend our days in noble silence with the sitting and walking practices of Insight Meditation (Vipassana). Supported in this beautiful container, we will explore how the teachings of the Buddha point us to directly touch and understand our experience, opening us to compassion and wisdom. There will be instructions for sitting and walking meditation, periods of movement (yoga), dharma talks and practice meetings with the teachers. Jennifer Berezan will lead a daily session of chant and song as mindfulness practice.
Also remember that the cost above is priced as a sliding scale. Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This allows others who need to pay less the opportunity to attend. Fee is for room and board. Teaching and staffing of the retreats is by donation at the end of the retreat. For more information, see Retreat FAQ.
