Description:
Join us for an inspiring evening with Dr. John Francis, environmentalist, founder, and author of Planetwalker: 22 Years of Walking, 17 Years of Silence and The Ragged Edge of Silence: Finding Peace in a Noisy World.

In 1971, after the destructive oil spill in the San Francisco Bay, John was deeply affected by the impact on wildlife and the environment. He made a life-altering decision to give up motorized vehicles and take a vow of silence. Over the past few decades, he has drawn on Buddhist, Hindu, Native American and Christian practices to strengthen his resolve to protecting the Earth. His commitment has led him to a UN appointment, journeys on foot across the US, Caribbean, and South America, and to founding the environmental awareness non-profit Planetwalk.

The evening will include John sharing his experience during his years in silence, and questions and comments from the Spirit Rock community.
